Our History

Cromer and District Independent Funeral Services is a family-run business based in the heart of Norfolk’s seaside town, Cromer.

The business was founded over 34 years ago by husband-and-wife team, Leslie and Jean, and it quickly attained an excellent reputation as one of the most caring funeral directors in the area. Leslie’s son Adrian joined the family business in 2003 to follow in his late grandfather Jimmy Mallett footsteps who used to run Fox’s Funerals.

Adrian took over the day to day running of the business in 2013 when Jean sadly had to take a step back due to health issues. Sadly Jean passed away in 2018. In 2019 Leslie retired from the funeral side.

In January 2022 Leslie retired totally from business.

Adrian has now become the owner and manager. He is looking forward to carrying on the family business and continuing to be Cromer’s only Independent Family Funeral Directors.

In time he hopefully wants to include his nephews and niece in the business.

In early 2021 Kirsty Abraham joined Adrian and the team becoming the funeral arranger. She has now has become Adrian’s right hand lady helping out with all aspects of the job including conducting funerals if the family would like a female funeral director.

The Amis family is extremely well-respected locally and is known for supporting families with the utmost care and compassion.
